This weekend sees two major events kick off, Coachella and The Masters. This is typically the marker for me that we're about to lock in to beer gardens and open air raves. Both will be on my TV and whilst it's safe to say you won't be hearing any of the selections below at The Masters, you might at Coachella (although unlikely).
I'm definitely in the camp that Coachella is a bit of a bs festival but I do want to see what the sets of Kettama (Friday), YOUSUKE YUKIMATSU & Riordan (Saturday) and Sara Landry (Sunday) have to offer.
Let's get into it.
Record of the Week — RWD, WASAP MOS - Project Six
DBA Records are dropping heater after heater and this is probably one of my heaviest picks for Record of the Week so far. The first drop lands like a clean right hook and delivers a tight bassline over a broken beat. UKG live and direct.
This week Megan Wroe drops her full EP which brings a more upbeat, poppy energy as she intelligently samples some classic melodies. Speaking of sampling, if you remember Shiba San's belter “Okay”, Lamsi & Saidah have released a stomper that's clearly borrowed from that DNA. Whether or not it's a direct lift, the energy is unmistakable.
Coming off the back of his well received record "Automatic", Newsham drops a new one on Southpoint that's warehouse-ready. On the flip side I've also been enjoying this one from Oots which brings an addictive melody ready for festival season.
Plenty more to get your ears round. Until next week.

P-rallel @ DJ Mag HQ: P-rallel has been one of the more consistent names doing the rounds of late and this DJ Mag HQ session is a good example of why. It moves seamlessly between House and UKG without ever losing its footing. It’s a real groover so pour something cold and give it the full run.
